WoTUG - The place for concurrent processes

CoSMoS Workshop 2008

The theme of the first CoSMoS Workshop covers all aspects of modelling and simulating complex systems, with particular focus on highly parallel computational solutions.
CoSMoS logo The Workshop is part of a four-year initiative to enhance complex systems modelling and simulation. The project, based at the Universities of York and Kent, is developing a framework and infrastructure for development of complex systems. We are seeking papers on any aspect of the modelling and simulation of complex systems, and, more generally, on the engineering of complex emergent systems.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • computational approaches to modelling and simulating complex systems, such as
    • cellular automata models
    • growth grammars
    • agent models
  • modelling approaches for complex systems, such as the use of
    • diagrammatic models, UML and its extensions
    • process algebras, and other formalisms
  • aspects of simulation environments, such as
    • user languages and simulation interfaces
    • visualisation
    • implementation approaches and performance issues
    • scalability
  • applications of modelling or simulation to specific complex systems

Paper and Publication Details

  • papers should be formatted in standard LNCS style
  • the workshop proceedings will be published by Luniver Press
  • papers should be concise, but can be as long as needed to convey the ideas, techniques, and results. Authors of a paper that would exceed 40pp must consult the programme committee in advance of submission.
  • Submissions should be sent to Susan.Stepney@cs.york.ac.uk
