NHSE Accomplishments and Milestones

Over the four years that the NHSE has been in existence, many useful and interesting products and services have been produced by the NHSE for the supercomputing community. Below are some of the accomplishments along with the year in which they were achieved.

1998
  • Released versions 1.1 and 1.2 of the Repository in a Box (RIB) toolkit for software cataloging and repository interoperation on the Web
  • Partnered with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and DoE's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) for further development of the Access Control Prototype
1997
  • Released versions .9 Beta, .9.1 Beta, 1.0, and 1.0.1 of the Repository in a Box (RIB) toolkit for software cataloging and repository interoperation on the Web
  • PT-Digest went online. PT-Digest is a monthly electronic newsletter with articles related to the parallel programming tools.
1996
  • Released the Alpha version of the Repository in a Box (RIB) toolkit for software cataloging and repository interoperation on the Web
  • The Parallel Tools Library (PTLIB) repository went online. PTLIB is an Internet source of information about high quality parallel systems software and tools, both research and commercial.
  • The HPC-Netlib repository of high-performance math software went on line.
  • BenchWeb went online. BenchWeb is a Website that serves as a starting point for finding information about computer system performance benchmarks, benchmark results, and benchmark code.
1995
  • The article "National HPCC Software Exchange" was published in IEEE Computational Science & Engineering.
  • The NHSE HPCC Roadmap was introduced. This roadmap is an HTML guide to HPCC applications and technologies found on the Internet.
1994
  • A review policy for NHSE software submissions was developed and implemented.
  • The NHSE home page was first made available including the search engine used to search the greater than 8000 pages linked from it.
