CPA 2009 FringeAn important feature of CPA conferences are the evening fringe sessions. Fringe sessions take place on the evenings of the Sunday and the Monday. These sessions are very informal, highly interactive, and hopefully sometimes slightly controversial! Any conference delegate is invited to give a fringe presentation on any topic that they think may be of interest to the conference. A fringe presentation may last 10-20 minutes. Typically, ideas presented in fringe presentations may be work in progress, recently completed work, or even outright provocation! This is therefore an ideal forum for delegates to get some informal, friendly feedback. For instance, students often find it useful to give fringe presentations on ideas for thesis work. It is possible to submit fringe abstracts for publication in the proceedings. These must be received by the CPA conference submission deadline. Call for Fringe ContributionsThis is a call for short presentations at the Fringe sessions at CPA this year. As usual, these presentations are informal and requests to make one can be made at any time — even up to the start of the sessions themselves. However, slots are limited, and acceptance cannot be guaranteed — so book early to avoid disappointment. To book a fringe slot, please email cpa2009@wotug.org, including:
Fringe presentations are not normally published. However, if you submit a one page paper in the style of the main submitted papers and the presentation is accepted, this will be included in the conference proceedings. Such papers will normally consist of a title, author information and an abstract. The conference will present a prize for the best Fringe presentation. |
