USA National Laboratories
- Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) and divisions: [DOE]
- Brookhaven National Laboratory [DOE]
- Department of Defence (DoD) Information Systems Technology Insertion (DISA) including ATM Technology Initiatives in the DoD.
- Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Computing Division [DOE]
- Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory [DOE]
- Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) [DOE] including:
- Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Advanced Computing Laboratory (LANL/ACL). The ACL is one of the DOE's two High Performance Computing Research Centers (HPCRC) with ORNL and is the foundation upon which the center is being built. It is also a member of the Centre for Research in Parallel Computation (CRPC) and the Concurrent SuperComputing Consortium (CSCC). [DOE, HPCRC, HPCC, CRPC, CSCC]
- Naval Research Laboratory (NRL)
- Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). ORNL is a DOE multiprogram laboratory. The Laboratory conducts basic and applied research and development to advance the nation's energy resources, environmental quality, scientific knowledge, educational foundations, and industrial competitiveness. The Laboratory also performs work in collaboration with other federal agencies, industries, and universities. Contains the Center for Computational Sciences (ORNL CCS) which has two Intel Paragons and a KSR1 available. It performs Grand Challenge Research and is one of the DOE's two High Performance Computing Research Centers (HPCRC) with LLNL and the ORNL focal point for the US HPCC program. [DOE, HPCRC, HPCC]
- Pacific Northwest Laboratory (PNL) and Environmental & Molecular Sciences Lab. PNL is a DOE multi-program national laboratory. [DOE]
- Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), a DOE multi-program national laboratory. Contains the Massively Parallel Computing Research Laboratory (MPCRL) [DOE]
Future of NSF Supercomputer Centers report
In early 1995, the director of the National Science Foundation
convened a Task Force to make recommendations on the Future of the NSF
Supercomputer Centers Program. The Task Force has completed its
assignment, and its final report has been presented to the National
Science Board.
Included at this site are pointers to other studies on the NSF
supercomputer centers, and to a survey of user requirements. Summaries and
complete responses of the survey are available by anonymous ftp.
