abstract= "The CoSMoS project is building generic modelling tools and
simulation techniques for complex systems. As part of this
project a number of simulations have been developed in many
programming languages. This paper describes a framework for
interconnecting simulation components written in different
programming languages. These simulation components are
synchronised and coupled using a shared object space. This
approach allows us to combine highly concurrent
agent-based simulations written in occam-\π, with
visualisation and analysis components written in flexible
scripting languages such as Python and domain specific
     languages such as MATLAB."
