Prototyping transputer applications

Authors: Hart, E., Flavell, S.

Abstract:

The design is discussed of a toolset capable of estimating the performance of a transputer application at the design stage, prior to detailed code being available. The Transim/Gecko package from the Polytechnic of Central London is discussed in detail as an example of such a toolset. The methodology of the package is discussed, its input language, output format and the transputer scheduling model to which it adheres. An example is described of a real transputer application where the tool has been successfully used to improve performance.
