VPE (Visual Parallel Programming Environment)
- Abstract
- VPE is an integrated environment for explicit message-passing parallel programming. Program task structure is specified via a graph in which nodes represent tasks and messages flow on arcs. Tasks are specified as ordinary C or Fortran with VPE library calls. VPE also automates compiling and running programs, even in a heterogeneous environment. VPE is built on top of PVM.

- TargetEnvironment
- VPE runs on UNIX workstations under X. The programs it produces run on networks of UNIX workstations under PVM 3.3. PVM 3.3 is required as well as Tcl 7.4 and Tk 4.0 if you choose to compile VPE. Binaries are available for common UNIX workstations. A C compiler is required. Fortran is optional.
