Pangaea
- Abstract
- Pangaea is a tool for debugging heterogeneous distributed applications that use PVM. Nondeterminism in the application can cause varying event orderings for different executions. Reproducibility is important in detecting data races, send and receive mismatches, buffer overflow, etc. Facailities are needed to capture the event ordering for erroneous behavior and to reproduce it as many times an necessary to diagnose the error. Pangaea combines the visual trace information provided by XPVM with a facility for program execution replay. Pangaeas replay facility can be coupled with PVMs ability to access local debuggers at each execution site.
