Panda Array I/O Library
- Abstract
- The Panda software library supports high performance
input and output of multidimensional array data and
provides efficient array storage management on parallel
and sequential platforms. Panda's simple abstract high-level
interfaces allow exploitation of the semantic information
of the applications' array i/o requests. The underlying
i/o strategies make use of the semantic information
obtained to make intelligent optimization decisions.
The high level interfaces for the array i/o operations
provide ease of use and enhance the portability of
the applications.

- Panda 2.1 has been tested on sequential Unix workstations
and on an IBM SP2. It currently runs on the UNIX file
system using message passing library MPICH, and the
NASA AMES IBM SP2's AIX file system using IBM's commercial
version of the MPI message passing library. We have
tested Panda 2.1 on the following platforms and configurations,
using Panda's interface for C++ applications: Sun Workstation
with UNIX File System, HP Workstation with UNIX File
System, NASA Ames IBM SP2 with AIX 3.2.5 file system,
Cornell Theory Center IBM SP2 with AIX 3.2.5 file system.
