MPP-Apprentice
- Abstract
- The MPP Apprentice is a performance analysis tool that
collects both compile-time and run-time information
that helps the user find performance infefficiencies
in his/her program. Apprentice is enabled at compile
time and can be selectively applied to individual subroutines.
A simple-to-use graphical interface gives the user
numerical and bar-chart information on time spent in
different routines, how that time was spent (calculations,
I/O, waits, etc.) Useful observations are also given
on how performance could be improved. MPP-Apprentice
analyzes the performance timings of programs written
in either C or Fortran and using either PVM or PVM
on a Cray T3D or T3E.

- MPT 1.1 for IRIX is available today for all Silicon
Graphics computer systems running IRIX 6.2 or 6.4,
including Origin2000, CRAY Origin2000, CHALLENGE®,
POWER CHALLENGE, Onyx®, and Onyx2 systems. MPT 1.1
for IRIX uses Array 3.0 to deliver optimal performance,
whether for an array of workstations or servers, or
within a single large server. MPT 1.1 for UNICOS is
available today for the CRAY J90, CRAY T90, and CRAY
T3E (including the CRAY T3E-900) computer systems running
UNICOS and UNICOS/mk. (For CRAY T3E systems, the SHMEM
library is delivered as part of the CF90 and C++ Programming
Environments.)
