BATSRUS (Version 2)

Abstract
A new ideal magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) code, BATSRUS, has been developed for massively parallel computers using adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) and a Roe 8-wave Riemann solver (Powell et al.). The code has been implemented on a CRAY T3E massively parallel computer with 512 processors. In an early application, which modeled the expansion of a coronal mass ejection from the solar surface, the code achieved 64 gigaFLOPS in and was certified by NASA in early March 1998. The code was clocked at 233 gigaFLOPS on a 1,024-processor CRAY T3E-1200 in May of 1998.
