ParVox 1.0
- Abstract
- The ParVox software was developed to visualize large volumes of 4-D (spatial plus time) data sets. It is a distributed visualization system consisting of a rendering core running on a parallel computer and a GUI running on a Unix workstation. The ParVox system is designed for interactive, distributed visualization of large multiple time steps, multiple parameters volume data sets: data sets that are impractical or impossible to visualize on workstations. ParVox 1.0 has the following capabilities: 1. ParVox runs on the Cray T3D and T3E using SHMEM library. 2. Able to render regular structured grid volume data interactively and in batch mode as volume, slices, and iso-surfaces. 3. Able to render the multiple time-steps data to create animations. 4. Interactive GUI that allows users to manipulate, render, and view the data on local workstations (SGI, Sun, HP, and Linux). 5. Colormap and opacity map editing in GUI. 6. Supports wavelet image compression, thus allowing ParVox to operate over slower network links. 7. Supports multiple output devices: PPM files, lossy compressed images, raw images, and HiPPI framebuffers.
