Technical Applications for High Performance Computers

New Evaluation Report from PALLAS GmbH, Germany

The lack of commercially available application software still is the main 
obstacle for the wide use of parallel computers. In particular, 3rd party 
software packages used by engineers in research and industry have not 
been ported to (massively) parallel computer systems. On behalf of the 
Commission of the European Communities, PALLAS has evaluated the needs 
of the European industrial users concerning the introduction of MPP 
systems and application software. A listing of the most important 3rd party 
application codes for technical simulation has been generated. 
Main criterion for the ranking was the need of the users to get these codes 
ported to parallel systems.
