The documentation does not state that
a channel declared to be
  CHAN OF ANY   may be passed as an actual parameter to a procedure with a
formal channel parameter of any protocol (for example,   CHAN OF INT  , or
a user-defined protocol). However, a channel declared with a protocol
may not be passed as an actual parameter to a procedure whose formal parameter
is declared as a   CHAN OF ANY  . See also bug 168.
