PAT
- Abstract
- The performance analysis tool (PAT) provides a low-overhead
method for performing several types of performance
analysis. You can use PAT to analyze a C, C++, or Fortran
90 executable file simply by relinking the executable
file with the PAT library. With PAT, you can perform
the following types of analysis: * Estimate the amount
of time spent in functions * Determine load balance
across processing elements (PEs) * Generate and view
trace files * Generate an execution-time profile of
a program * Analyze applications that use the pthread
library * Analyze message passing programs * Time individual
calls to routines * Perform event traces * Display
hardware performance counter information by using the
EV5 performance counters to gather performance information
and instruction counts * Instrument call sites by using
the real-time clock * Insert traces of user and library
routines at the executable level
