MPP Apprentice
- Abstract
- The MPP Apprentice performance tool helps you find and correct performance anomalies and inefficiencies
in programs that are designed for Cray Research massively parallel processing (MPP) systems. The C++,
Cray Standard C, Fortran 90 and PGHPF compilers generate code to collect performance data, and create a
run-time data file. The MPP Apprentice tool processes this file and compiler information files (CIFs) and
directs you to the location of problems. It flags sections of code that are heavily used. It displays the amount
of time the program spent idle and gives you information about the type of code that caused the idle time,
such as barriers, shared loop iteration distribution, shared loop startup, and so on. The tool searches for
certain patterns of code use and reports undesirable ones.
