UGRID
- Abstract
- UGRID features fast generation of 2D unstructured, structured, and hybrid meshes about airfoils and circles. The CFD utility reads coordinates
describing a foil from a file and guickly creates your grid (20,000 cells per second on a Pentium 133). You can produce Euler grids or can incorporate
a structured or an unstructured grid to resolve the boundary layer in Navier-Stokes calculations. The unstructured grids are extremely smooth and are
symmetric if the airfoil is symmetric.
A graphical user interface simplifies entry of the number of foil points, number of points at the farfield, the farfield radius, and other parameters. You can
set boundary layer thickness and cell size distribution or use default values. You can concentrate cells at the trailing edge of an airfoil and along the
wake.
You can point and click to centre a grid feature of interest on the screen and can zoom in for a close look. You can display the cell, cell-edge, or node
numbers on screen for reference. You can work on two grids and switch quickly back and forth between them for comparison.
