Securing the Repository Site(s)

Repository maintainers should take reasonable precautions to protect their server machine(s) from breakins. Good sources of information on Web site security include the WWW Security FAQ gif and the NCSA httpd documentation gif.

Additional security precautions include the following:

  1. limiting services on the server machine to those that are absolutely necessary,
  2. limiting logins on the server machine,
  3. using a secure login protocol such as S-Key for the server machine.

Please contact netlib_maintainers@netlib.org for further advice on how to secure your repository site.
