- What classification schemes
already exist for classifying software in
this domain?
Are they sufficient?
If not, how should a classification scheme be developed?
- What are important bibliographies, survey articles, and literature
in this domain?
- Which software packages in this domain are
popular or considered to be of high quality? What are the distinguishing
features or characteristics that account for their success?
- What software architectures characterize software systems in the
domain?
The type of software architecture affects whether reuse in a domain will be
small-scale reuse of single components or large-scale reuse of aggregates
of components [10].
If architectures are very special-purpose, software
may not be reusable, but other artifacts (e.g., algorithms, requirements
specifications) might be.
- What are the current mechanisms, conventions, and avenues for
software distribution and technology transfer (i.e., to industry)
in this domain?
