Interesting you should mention 320C30 line. We (not me personally) have
been looking at the TI parts with built in support for control
applications, which is what we are most interesteed in.

We are also using a Dipix vision card, which we are just about to start
delving into the 320C44, so I guess we will find out how good they are.

<Talking about the DSPs with built in serial comms>

I would like to know how well the software tools cope with medium
grained paralellism, and whether the 'links' have decent support in
software. For instance do the libraries support application programming
level 'channels' (ie both between processors and between processes on
the same processor) and 'virtual channels' (so that we dont have to
multiplex the usage of the serial channels by hand)?

I fear there are many of us wondering what to use instead of Transputers
for new development. It is a shame that the 20450 was such a dead duck,
or else the line might have been kept alive.

Erm, hand on - you mean that the debuggers *arnt as good* as for
transputers? Gawd preserve us. *8')

Take care peoples,
