Sorry, I forgot to say... and the subject line was misleading...

My benchmarking was on Unix machines, comparing Alsys and Dec Ada compilers with the
Kent (free) occam compiler. Didn't try the Gnat tools nor ever got around to comparing
transputer compiler performance. Although I know a man who might have... (Are you
there, Dr Kukla?)
