Date: Mon, 21 Jul 97 16:12:05 GMT Message-ID: <191@mint.ukc.ac.uk> 'origami' folding editor can be one answer to YAE (Yet Another Editor!). It is free software, developed by a number of people at different places and at different times. The version 1.7.1 of origami is available in Hensa archives at http://www.hensa.ac.uk/parallel/tools/editors/folding-editors/ However, this version is buggy and can be painful to use. I have assumed to chase the bugs and add some useful facilities. This voluntary work has yielded a robust and professional-like version, say, version 2.0. We have been using the new version for quite a long time here at Kent University but only on vt220 type terminals. So far we are happy with it (of course "wouldn't it be nice if..." list never becomes short). For X-windows we have a vt220 emulator software 'Xwrapper' which is un-supported and hard to use on platforms other than SunOS. I've decided to sort terminal dependency problem out before putting origami v2.0 up for release. There will be a universal key mapping and a support for user-defined key mapping. Another reason for the delay of the release is because of my un-necessarily perfectionist approach. The good news is that, my hands are on this work these days and very shortly I will announce the release of the long awaited 'origami v2.0'. Watch this space.
