: Does anyone know of a UNIX (specifically Linux/FreeBSD or open source)
: daemon or distribution that will enable a transparent networked
: parallel machine? This means that the kernel decides which machine to
: run new processes/threads on, and (hopefully) load balances
: appropriately.
: It would most liklely be running on a 10/100MBps ethernet network.
: All the machines would be PCs.

I'd suggest you take a look at running a combination of Linux and
Mosix.

Mosix supports cluster computing, with kernel level adaptive load
balancing.

Sounds like exactly what you want I think.

Hope this helps,
Niall
