                     CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

                First European Workshop on OpenMP
                            EWOMP=9299

                  Lund University, Lund, Sweden

                 September 30 -- October 1, 1999

                   Abstracts due July 18, 1999

OpenMP has recently emerged as an industry standard interface for
shared memory programming of parallel computer applications. With
OpenMP, it is now possible to write applications with a shared
memory programming model, portable to a wide range of parallel
computers.

This workshop is the first to focus on aspects of parallel
computing where OpenMP is used. The workshop will include both
invited and contributed presentations. We are happy to announce
the participation of John Levesque, IBM T.J. Watson Research
Institute and Ross Towle, Silicon Graphics Inc.

We strongly encourage potential participants to submit abstracts
for presentations. Application developers are especially welcome
to take part in the meeting.

Call for participation
----------------------

We invite abstracts for presentations from people working on all
topics related to OpenMP.

Relevant subject areas include, but are not limited to:
=B7 Tools for OpenMP application development and analysis
=B7 Performance studies of applications using OpenMP
=B7 Porting of applications to OpenMP
=B7 Implementations of OpenMP
=B7 Hybrid programming models, e.g. between OpenMP and MPI

Submission of abstracts
-----------------------

Abstracts of up to one page should be submitted electronically by
July 18, 1999. They should preferably be formatted with PDF
although PostScript is also acceptable provided that they are
viewable in ghostview. Authors will be notified of acceptance by
August 2, 1999. Submit abstracts to email address:
ewomp99@it.lth.se.

Tutorial
--------

The workshop will on September 30th be preceded by a half-day
tutorial on OpenMP. Please see the workshop web site for more
details. http://www.it.lth.se/ewomp99

Organising and Program committees
---------------------------------

EWOMP=9299 is sponsored by EuroTools, a working group financed by
the European Union for the promotion of European High Performance
Computing and Networking Tools.

EWOMP=9299 is organised by Dr. Mats Brorsson, Department of
Information Technology at Lund University, Sweden in co-operation
with Dr. Barbara Chapman, Department of Electronics and Computer
Science at University of Southampton, United Kingdom.

Program committee:
Mats Brorsson Lund University
Barbara Chapman University of Southampton
Wolfgang Nagel TU Dresden
Jean-Louis Pazat INRIA/IRISA
Per Stenstrom Chalmers University of Technology
Tor Sorevik Parallab, University of Bergen

Workshop venue
--------------

The workshop will be held in Lund, a university town in southern
Sweden. Lund University is one of the largest and oldest
universities in Sweden and is the most complete in Scandinavia.

The meetings will take place at the Old Bishop=92s house, which was
built in 1840 for the university but later used as the residence
for the bishops of Lund Cathedral. The university reacquired it
in 1992 through a gracious donation from Knut and Alice
Wallenberg=92s foundation.
