			    POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY

Department of Computer and Information Science

Polytechnic University's Department of Computer and Information Science is
undergoing a major expansion and has several open positions at all levels for
tenured or tenure-track faculty at our Brooklyn and Long Island campuses. We
are particularly interested in candidates in the following areas: computer
architecture, databases, operating systems, parallel and distributed systems,
multimedia, image processing, and software engineering, but will also consider
excellent candidates in other areas. Successful candidates must have a strong
research ability, including significant publications and the ability to secure
external funds through grants or contracts, as well as excellent teaching
skills.

The Department of Computer and Information Science offers B.S., M.S., and
Ph.D. degrees. Areas of active research include algorithms, computational
geometry, computational learning theory, data compression, image processing
and understanding, databases, parallel and distributed systems, software
reliability and testing, and text and data mining. The faculty is supported
by numerous NSF grants (including three CAREER awards), as well as grants and
contracts from other government agencies and from industry.

Polytechnic University (formerly known as Brooklyn Poly) is located on three
campuses in the New York City metropolitan area. The favorable location
allows faculty and students to enjoy close interactions with major companies
in the financial, telecommunications, and computer sectors. A $275 million
capital campaign is underway, the proceeds of which will be used to improve
facilities and infrastructure, endow chairs and scholarships, and launch new
initiatives.

Qualified applicants should send their curriculum vitae to
