Research Positions: Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica
     The Institute of Information Science at Academia Sinica, Taiwan,=
 ROC invites applications for the positions of junior and senior (equ=
ivalent to the rank of full professors or tenured associate professor=
s) research fellows in all areas of Computer Science.
     Academia Sinica, led by Nobel laureate Dr. Yuan-Tseh Lee, is the=
 national academic research institution in Taiwan on various subjects=
 in sciences and humanities. The Institute of Information Science is =
committed to conduct quality research in computer and information sci=
ences. Full-time research fellows have no teaching obligation, and ar=
e assisted by research assistants. Current research activities focus =
on algorithms and computation theory, biological computing, Chinese i=
nformation processing, cognitive science, intelligent systems and com=
puter vision, operating systems and networking, parallel computing, a=
nd software methodologies.
     All candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in computer science or=
 closely related fields with good research and publication record. In=
 addition, senior candidates must have an international reputation as=
 evidenced by publications, patents, industrial practical experiences=
, or other academic and scholarly achievements. They must demonstrate=
 a strong leadership in research and are expected to be liaisons on m=
atters related to research and consultancy.=20
     Salary is based on qualification. Senior applicants with excepti=
onal qualification can apply additional salary support from the priva=
te-sponsored foundation for the Advancement of Outstanding Scholarshi=
p. In addition to budgeted research funding supported by Academia Sin=
ica, research funding is also available from government agencies and =
industry-sponsored institutions.
     All candidates should send a detailed curriculum vitae, copies o=
f selected publications, at least 2 recommendation letters, and a doc=
toral degree certificate or a letter indicating (potential) completio=
n of the degree requirement to:
