goals this summer and beyond.  NCSA continues its tradition of offering
world-class high-performance computing training with "Parallel Computing
Explained: An Introduction," a 3-day, hands-on workshop in August 1998.

As a workshop participant, you will learn effective strategies and
techniques for using parallel computers.  The valuable skills you
learn will help you make your high-performance computing easier and
more productive.  All workshop participants will have the opportunity to
practice using these powerful tools with free NCSA training logins.
In addition, these training logins will also remain active for a brief 
period after the workshop to allow for more practice.

The workshop will start with a brief Introduction to Parallel Computing,
familiarizing you with basic concepts.  Other topics covered include...

(*) Comparing various vendors' parallel computers
(*) Porting your code to a parallel computer
(*) Timing your code
(*) Parallelizing your code
(*) Parallel programming style
(*) Parallel performance analysis
(*) Tuning your code for parallel processing
(*) Using NCSA's parallel computing environment

government registration fee is $100.  Industrial partner registration
fee is $750.
