Newsgroups: comp.parallel From: jputnam@ziplink.net Subject: History of "wormhole routing" Organization: Deja News - The Leader in Internet Discussion Date: 22 May 1998 12:48:29 GMT Message-ID: <6k3s6t$9su$1@encore.ece.cmu.edu> I am trying to track down the intellectual history of "wormhole routing," both as a concept and as a term. The earliest reference I can find to the term is about 1990, although I see pointers to an article by Dally in 1987 that may disclose the concept (I'm not a computer scientist so I can't judge for myself). I would be grateful for any references on this point. In particular, if there is a "classic" article or other source that discloses both the concept and the term, that would be great. If, as seems more likely, someone thought of the concept before the term, I'd like the reference to each of these events. If, as also seems likely, there are multiple definitions of wormhole routing (for the purpose of assigning historical credit), then I should know that too. Please cc: me as I don't normally read this group. Many thanks, Jon Putnam jputnam@ziplink.net -- Articles to bigrigg+parallel@cs.cmu.edu (Admin: bigrigg@cs.cmu.edu) Archive: http://www.hensa.ac.uk/parallel/internet/usenet/comp.parallel
