Special Issue on Software Visualisation for
		Parallel and Distributed Programming

Developing parallel and distributed programs for high performance computers
is much harder than developing serial programs. Recent advance in high
performance computing hardware and the internet has not been matched by the
availability of effective supporting software. Consequently, software
visualisation techniques have been increasingly used in the software tools
that assist the development of parallel and distributed programs.

The term "software visualisation" refers to the graphical display of
characteristics and behaviour of all aspects of software: design and
analysis methods, systems, programs and algorithms. Visual programming and
program visualisation have become important features of user-friendly and
efficient programming tools and environments for parallel and distributed
systems. This special issue of IJSEKE aims at collecting and comparing wide
range of software visualisation techiques and issues relating to the
development of parallel and distributed programs. Although not limited to
the following, manuscripts are sought from academia and industry on such
topics as

o Visual programming for parallel/distributed software construction
o Parallel performance visualisation
o Visual debugging of parallel/distributed programs
o Cognitive aspects of visual parallel/distributed programming
o Intelligent user interfaces for distributed softare development
o Graphical formalisms for parallel and concurrent programs
o Software visualisation tools for programming parallel and distributed systems
o Knowledge-based systems supporting program visualisation and performance tuning
o Meta-tools for developing parallel/distributed visualisation software
