Newsgroups: comp.parallel From: uke4@rzstud1.rz.uni-karlsruhe.de (Daniel Berger) Subject: New parallel processor developed: CPC Organization: University of Karlsruhe, Germany Date: 13 Nov 1997 20:11:03 GMT Message-ID: <64fmsn$d0a@fs7.ece.cmu.edu> Hi, In a studious work ("Studienarbeit") at the University Karlsruhe/Germany i have developed a new kind of parallel processors which i call Cellular Processor Clusters (CPC). The work was done in spring 1997 and by now i have translated the whole thing to english to be able to post it to the WWW. If you are interested, read or download the document at: http://www.uni-karlsruhe.de/~uke4/cpc.html Abstract: In this Studienarbeit i want to introduce a new kind of parallel processing computer (cellular processor cluster, CPC), with which it is possible to use large and fine grain parallelity (down to the command level). Cellular processor clusters consist of a number of cells, each one storing one command and its data, which can communicate by a connection network. A cell executes its command when it is active. The attribute of being active (the activity) is passed from one cell to another. The efficiency of the new principle of computing is examined by comparison with known concepts of parallel computing.
