It was published by MIT Press on October 21, 1994. It can be ordered now from MIT Press, although it will not be in stores for a few weeks. The table of contents, together with ordering information from MIT Press and unflattering pictures of the authors, is available on the World Wide Web at http://www.mcs.anl.gov/mpi/usingmpi. "Using MPI" is a tutorial on how to use the new standard message-passing library interface called MPI to write portable, parallel programs. It starts with very simple examples using a miminal subset of the MPI specification and progresses to examples that illustrate some of the more powerful concepts of MPI. Examples from the book are freely available at .
