Nevertheless, its basic FIFO-scheduling algorithm, makes its application for real-time processing quite difficult. This problem has now been solved by the development of a preemptive scheduling algorithm. This algorithm was used to port an existing real-time kernel to the Transputer. In addition, by taking account of the specific nature of the Transputer, much better performance and flexibility have been obtained." }
